Ultraviolette, a EV tech space startup was founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam (CEO) and Niraj Rajmohan (CTO). Their flagship model code-named F77 has developed from scratch in-house since their inception, has finally all set to be seen on Indian roads soon somewhere in the last week of November 2022.
After perfecting their prototypes, the company had hinted their production readiness (with secured funding) a few weeks back on social media. The initial launch will be in Bengaluru and before going pan-India, to ensure they understand and perfect their company-customer processes. This will also help them get feedback and data on their initial production series bikes thereby bettering their product and services.
The price of this bike has still not been revealed, however the pre-booking for the F77 are open from today (24th October) for a token amount of ₹10,000 and is slated to launch on November 24 this year. The company boasts that the Ultraviolette F77 makes use of an all new light-weight frame for their production which not only saves weight by around 30 per cent lighter than before and two times stiffer as well thus making it better in overall ride-handling performance. This was also confirmed by a few riders who got to test during the official press-event a few weeks back.
Until now, the company has received $15 million Series C Funding from TVS Motor Company and Zoho Corporation. Other Investors are Malayalam film actor Dulquer Salmaan and GoFrugal Technologies. The EV company has stated that their first experience center for the electric superbike would come up within Bangalore, and then they would spread their network in multiple phases.
The new production ready F77 has seen a few fundamental changes than it's initial design/prototype and now comes with a fixed lithium-ion battery pack instead of their original removable 3 module battery packs. This is also claimed to have a higher energy than the original design, thanks to the quicker development of the battery tech, as well as better packing density in a fixed battery design.
With more power output and significantly improved range, the e-motorbike is said to have a range of 307 km on a single charge. The company claims this battery pack inside an aluminum casing is the largest on any electric two-wheeler presently in Indian-marketplace, and also comes with five levels of safety, however the pack uses passive air cooling method.
Ultraviolette, as a company is expecting for the bike to fetch at least 70,000 pre-launch bookings from as many as 190 countries. The motorbike is expected to be available in three variants- Airstrike, Laser and Shadow, as the company had previously hinted and is expected to be priced around 3-3.5 lakhs Indian Rupees.
